Who are School Social Workers?

Fremont Public School Social Workers are trained mental health professionals with a master’s degree in social work. They provide an array of services to students addressing social and emotional adjustment and facilitate collaboration between home, school, and community resources. They provide direct and indirect services to students, families, and school personnel to support students’ academic and social successes. 

Who do they provide services to?

Fremont Public School social workers provide services to all students within a Multi-tiered System of Support. They work together with students, parents, school personnel, community agencies and others to help make school a successful and relevant experience for students.

What services do they provide?

School Social Workers help families identify and utilize medical, financial, and social-emotional resources. School social workers also assist parents and families in understanding and reducing factors which contribute to school performance problems that include: absences/tardies, behavior difficulties, lack of positive peer relationships, court/legal involvement, and health, medical, and nutritional concerns.
